Product Details
AMSOIL 15W-60 100% Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil delivers maximum wear protection, superior rust defense, and confident wet-clutch performance for Victory and Indian motorcycles running in the most demanding conditions. It is a premium synthetic alternative to higher-priced manufacturer-branded oils.
Air-cooled V-twin engines run hot. They share oil between the engine, transmission, and primary chaincase, which means a single oil has to handle extreme heat, gear loads, and clutch friction all at once. Seasonal riders face an additional challenge: months of storage invite moisture and rust into critical engine components. A standard automotive oil is not built for any of this.
EXCEEDS HIGH-TEMPERATURE FILM STRENGTH STANDARDS
When cylinder temperatures climb, oil viscosity drops. If it drops too far, metal-to-metal contact follows. AMSOIL 15W-60 V-Twin Motorcycle Oil recorded a High-Temperature/High-Shear viscosity of 6.9 cP in ASTM D5481 testing at 150°C, nearly double the 3.5 cP minimum allowable standard. That translates to a thick, durable lubricant film staying in place under the severe thermal loads common to air-cooled Victory and Indian V-twin engines. The Four-Ball Wear Test (ASTM D4172) confirmed a wear scar of just 0.39 mm, backed by a heavy treatment of anti-wear additives that protect regardless of riding style or ambient temperature.
RESISTS BREAKDOWN AND KEEPS ENGINES CLEAN
High operating temperatures accelerate oil oxidation, which leads to sludge, carbon deposits, and thickened oil. AMSOIL 15W-60 V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is thermally stable and loaded with oxidation inhibitors to resist breakdown over extended use. NOACK volatility testing (ASTM D5800) showed only 5.2% weight loss, meaning less oil is burned off at high temperatures. A Total Base Number of 11.6 provides strong acid-neutralizing capacity to keep contaminants in check throughout the drain interval.
PROTECTS GEARS AND CHAINS WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE WET CLUTCH
V-twin motorcycles with shared sumps need an oil that can handle the extreme-pressure demands of transmission gears and primary chains. Some oils use aggressive EP additives to achieve this, but those same additives cause clutch slippage and glazing. AMSOIL 15W-60 V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is shear stable, resists viscosity loss from mechanical activity, and performs like a gear lube without the tradeoff. It meets JASO MA friction requirements for positive clutch engagement, smooth shifting, and consistent feel at the lever.
SUPERIOR RUST AND CORROSION PROTECTION DURING STORAGE
Rust is not a hypothetical problem for motorcycles. Humidity, condensation, and extended downtime during winter months can pit cylinder walls, cam lobes, and bearing surfaces. Most motor oils do not contain dedicated anti-rust chemistry. AMSOIL 15W-60 V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is formulated with special anti-rust agents that coat internal surfaces and guard against corrosion, even when the bike sits for months between rides. This is particularly relevant for Victory and Indian owners in northern climates who may store their bikes from late fall through early spring.
CATALYTIC-CONVERTER COMPATIBLE
AMSOIL 15W-60 V-Twin Motorcycle Oil meets emission-system protection requirements and is safe for use in motorcycles equipped with catalytic converters. Low-ash formulation chemistry protects exhaust aftertreatment systems from contamination.
SPECIFICATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY
AMSOIL 15W-60 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil meets JASO MA, API SM, and ILSAC GF-4 specifications. It is designed for use in any motorcycle requiring a 15W-60 viscosity grade, including Victory and Indian models. It is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils, though mixing will reduce the performance benefits and extended drain interval capability. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended.
SERVICE LIFE
For on-road use in engines and transmissions, AMSOIL 15W-60 V-Twin Motorcycle Oil provides premium protection for up to 2X the motorcycle manufacturer-recommended change interval, or one year, whichever comes first, when paired with an AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Oil Filter. Change other brand filters at standard intervals. For off-road use, follow the standard manufacturer-recommended change interval. For racing or modified engines, no specific interval recommendation is made.
